Be careful! 「と」is not the only word for “AND”

beginner

「と」is not the only word for “AND”  -① How to connect いadjective to the following part.

As you know, your Japanese friends, colleagues
would never correct your Japanese.

LTPT N5 challengers lean that AND in Japanese is 「と」at their very  first stage.

私  ともだちは えいが に いきました。
スーパーで ワイン と チーズをかいました。

These are no problem and  I know you can handle this with no problem.

But be careful!

Please be aware that you cannot use this 「と」as alternative of English(or other laungages) “AND”.

Can you correct this sentence?

このレストランは、おいしい やすいです。

This usage is incorrect.

How would we connect  いadjectives to its following part?

First, please drop the sound of い from the いadjective then add 「くて」。

⭕️  このレストランは、おいしくて、やすいです。

Note:

・Please use 「と」 in between nouns.

・As long as the ending of いadjective is correctly changed, you can use several more of them.
ex.
このケーキは、おもしろくて、かわいくて、いいですね。
=This cake is funny, sweet and good.

かわいくて、おもしろくて、おいしいです!

・And of course, the following part after いadjective does not need to be いadjective, and ending of your sentence is as you like.

ex.
このブティックは、たかくて ゆうめいです。
This boutique is expensive and famous.

Just one thing!
This ゆうめい・です, although the sound is い right in front of です, is NOT いadjective but なadjective.
We have なadjective in disguise of いadjective such as
きれいです、ゆうめいです、etc.
I know, this is not fair but there is one particular way to
differentiate this type of なadjectives from いadjectives.
I will write about it later in another blog.

For your reference, in case the first adjective is なadjective,
it becomes like this:

このキッチンは、きれい・で ひろいです。

かれは、ゆうめい・で おかねもちです。

An example which the いadjective is correctly changed and the ending part is freely made.

彼は、あたまが よくて、しんせつですが、お金はありません。
He is smart and kind but has no money.

Please give us any question, we will happily answer.
But please understand that we cannot answer all the questions.
